Christmas in Northampton 2022
The countdown to Christmas has begun! Join Northampton Town Council and Northampton Town Centre BID this Christmas for a variety of festive fun for all the family.
The celebrations begin on Saturday 26 November; Northampton Town Council will host the annual Christmas Lights Switch On from the Market Square; join us for an afternoon of festivities from 1400. Father Christmas will be joined on stage by pantomime stars from the Royal & Derngate's Jack & the Beanstalk and The Deco's Snow White with live music and entertainment throughout the day presented by BBC Radio Northampton's Daisie- Belle.
Have you heard!? Mischievous elves have taken over the town! Step into a world of augmented reality with Northampton Town Council's 'Mischievous Elf Trail' launching on 26 November via the Explore Northampton app. Children and adults alike can follow the trail on their smartphone around 10 town centre locations to find all the cheeky elves and see what they have been up to. The app also features special festive activities to do at home, including creating your very own elf of mischief.
The Explore Northampton app will feature an interactive 'Festive Event Map' of Northampton's Christmas events and activities over the holidays – your one-stop shop to plan festive fun for all the family. Keep your eyes peeled when doing your Christmas shopping – these mischievous elves will be hiding in stores and businesses throughout the town – how many can you spot?
The magic of Christmas will be brought to life on the Market Square every Saturday leading up to the big day. Join Northampton Town Council at the Christmas bandstand on 3, 10 and 17 December from 1200 till 1600 for live festive entertainment including musical performances from local singers, choirs, bands and community groups. The Christmas bandstand will also be in full swing to accompany West Northants Council's Frost Fair on Sunday 4 December, 1130 till 1530.
Santa Claus is coming to town! Families with children up to the age of 10 will be able to visit Santa's Grotto in Grosvenor Shopping Northampton from Saturday 26 November at the Christmas Lights Switch On. Santa's Grotto will then be open from 1030 to 1600 every Saturday and Sunday in December prior to Christmas, as well as weekdays from Monday 19 December to Thursday 22 December. Pre-booking is recommended to avoid disappointment www.discovernorthampton.co.uk/christmas
NLive Radio's 24-hour Christmas station, dedicated to Northampton returns to the airwaves this month. Sponsored by Northampton BID and Northampton Town Council, the station will be playing back-to-back Christmas hits making it the perfect soundtrack this festive season. Tune in now online and on your smart speakers via https://nliveradio.com . The station will broadcast on 87.9FM from 12 December.
Visitors to Northampton town centre can enjoy free parking within all West Northants Council multi-storey and surface car parks on Saturday 26 November.

Christmas Lights Switch On 2022
A huge thank you to Billy Lockett for this great video of the Christmas Lights Switch On celebrations and for joining us playing his very own Christmas single 'Guiding Star' (Christmas Eve).
Billy joined The Mayor of Northampton, Father Christmas and Northampton's Panto Stars on stage for the switch on countdown before ending the celebrations with a fun festive finale!
