New councils update

Following Orders made by Northampton Borough Council pursuant to a resolution passed at its meeting on 24th February, Northampton Town, Kingsthorpe Parish and Far Cotton and Delapre Community Councils were duly created on 1st April 2020. However, following the cancellation of elections for the new councils due to have been held on 7th May 2020 and other measures taken by the Government to combat the Coronavirus, the three councils are currently dormant and inactive for the foreseeable future.

Officers of the Borough Council and its agents, Northants CALC, are continuing to meet to plan for the formal implementation of the Orders which are now likely to be fully operational after 1st April 2021.
