St George's Day will be celebrated in Northampton on Saturday, 20th April with Northampton Town Council providing a range of free activities and entertainment throughout the day. Join us for lots of fun the whole family can enjoy!

Celebrations start at 11am with the raising of the St George's flag and a speech by the Mayor of Northampton, Cllr Stephen Hibbert, outside the Guildhall on St Giles' Square.

Throughout the day, crafty kids can create their own peg dragon and turreted castle out of recycled materials in the Guildhall Courtyard, with help from nature-based, sustainable workshop company The Wild Tribe, who will be accompanied by a storyteller telling the story of St George's Day tale with a twist at 12pm and 1.30pm! Kids entertainers will also be offering free face painting and balloon modelling.

Juggling Jim will run his Silly Knight School until 12.30pm, where kids can try challenges to become a knight of the castle, followed by Circus Workshops from 12.30 – 2pm, teaching juggling and balancing skills.

Knight School sessions can be booked in advance by completing the form below (spaces are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis.) *All spaces for the Knight School have now been filled - additional spaces may be available on the day*

All other activities and entertainment are drop in activities - no booking required.

The Rose and Castle Morris Dancers will perform by the Guildhall steps at 11.30am and 1pm, entertaining crowds with centuries-old, traditional routines and there will also be a chance to meet St George and a giant dragon puppet.

Finally, as part of the St George's Day celebrations, visitors can follow the Notable Northamptonians trail, to discover more about remarkable residents who have contributed to Northampton's cultural heritage from the past to the present day. The trail will be in situ for two weeks around the St George's Day celebrations - plenty of time to get discovering!
